Click on the menu with home icon and your website’s name (backend)

Let’s have a look at the top menu bar on the WordPress interface. The very first thing that’s actually useful up here is the little house icon with the name of your website next to that.

Click on the menu with home icon and your website’s name (frontend)

If you click on that, it’ll take you to your homepage and it also changes the submenus. If you’ll click on the house icon again, it’ll take us back to the dashboard. Fantastic!

Hover your mouse over the New menu

Now, the other useful thing when you’re in the admin is the New menu. This menu lets you create new:

  • Post
  • Media
  • Page
  • Slide
  • User
  • Form

The options you have here will depend on what plugins are installed whether you have your custom post types or maybe WooCommerce or things like that. Basically, the New menu gives you a way of creating some content without having to go through the side menu.

Click on the menu with your name on it

Over to the upper right side, you’ll see it says “G’day” and whatever your username is. From here, you can choose to log out or you can edit the profile you have within the WordPress.
